If you would like to enjoy your latex clothing for a long time, then its vital to take good care of it! Here are a few things you should know.

In General

Household oils, mechanical oils, greases and solvenst can cause serious damage on your latex garments, you should keep it away!

Extreme heat will melt the latex. (Radiators, candles etc.)

Sunlight will cause discoloration! Espeacially light colors and transparent will easily stain! Do not expose latex for a longer period into sunlight!

Water and high humidity will destroy and discolor the latex. Latex is a natural product and reacts like that, it will rot! So keep it dry and give it eough time to dry after you washed it!

Metal including pennies etc. will stain the latex! Avoid ugly spots and keep the latex away from it!

Nicotine will stain the latex. If you are strong smoker and like to wear white, light colors and transparent then remember to wash your hands in between to avaoid ugly yellow spots!

Sharp objects including long fingernails can easy cause holes or rip your latex garment. Just be carefull when you put on your clothing!

Sweat will damage in the long term your latex! Salt, water, talg etc. will weaking your latex clothing, obviously nobody can avoid it, but remember to wash it of! So keep it clean!

Leather can also damage and weaken your latex. I do not speak out of my own experience and refer here to a conversation. The concernes about leather are the remaining oils which are used during the production process of the garments.

Wash it

Fill your bathtub, a bucket or whatever you got with some handwarm water, put one or two drops of mild shampoo or baby shampoo in and wash your latex in it. Afterwards rinse it good of with fresh water, so that no shampoo remains! Then pu it on a hanger (wooden or plastic) and let it dry, in- and outside!

Recommendation: After I rinsed my latex, I will put it again in some clean water and add some of my silicone oil (Cult from Pjur), swiff the latex a little around in the mix and then hang it up to dry. So that I dont have to start shining it after it dried and can hang it right away in the closet.

Storage

Easy basics: Dry and Dark! Well, just store it out of the sunlight! Like I said let your latex dry really good after you washed it and then either shine it with water based silicone oil or give it some talcum on the inside. Their is no science behind it or that you have to keep it in bags etc., but be carefull with light colors, white and transparent, there I would recommend you to have it hanging in a clothing bag etc., colored latex will color those colors when its hanging close to each other. Or lets say you have a blouse/shirt with metall buttons, then dont hang it right next to them!
Blouses with buttons, please button those all up when you hang up your clothing! It happens that you hang your cloting in the closet and dont see that the button line is sticking to the latex.

Shine it up

I love shiny rubber! To shine me up, I use the waterbased silicone oil from Pjur. Just put a little amount of the oil in your hands and rub it slightly into the latex. Done!
You can use the silicone oil also as dressing aid, just put a little on your body and slip easy into the latex!

If you cant get in it, well then you need a little more silicone oil or powder!
