Acrylglas / Plexiglas wird in vielen verschiedenen Bereichen angewendet. Während der Herstellung von Latex-Kleidung wird es als Schneideunterlage auf dem Arbeitstisch verwendet.
Du solltest deine Plexiglasplatte nicht zu klein kaufen, du benötigst viel Platz um größere Stücke Latex darauf platzieren zu können, meine ist ca. 155cm x 115cm groß ( Bedenke das Latex von der Rolle eine mindest Weite von 90cm hat!)
Wie dick deine Plexiglasplatte ist, ist dir selbst überlassen, da du mit einem Rollschneider diese nicht durchschneiden wirst. Dies ist einfach eine Frage des Preises.
Natürlich wird deine Plexiglasplatte nicht ewig halten, wenn du sie oft nutzt. Du wirst irgendwann bemerken das durch zu tiefe Einschnitte ein ordentliches darauf Arbeiten nicht mehr möglich ist. Dann kannst du dir entweder eine neue Kaufen oder wenn du dir eine sehr dicke Platte angeschafft hattest, diese abschleifen.
Wo erhältlich? Natürlich in jedem größerem Baumarkt (Bauhaus, OBI etc.)!
Plexiglas ist sehr schwer zu bearbeiten das es sehr spröde ist. Also messe am besten deinen Arbeitsplatz vorher genau aus, damit du deine Platte im Baumarkt gleich auf Maß zurechtgeschnitten bekommst.
TIPS: Schleife die Ecken und Kanten deine Plexiglasplatte mit Schleifpapier ab bevor du sie benutzt, so das du oder das Latex nicht daran hängen bleibst und Klebe evt. dickes Klebeband aus dem Baumarkt herum.

I’ve found an A1, grid marked, self healing craft mat works well too – unfortunately I don’t have a table large enough for the mat right now, but that will come in time.

I personally use particle board / chipboard. It works ok too and it’s way way cheaper than plexiglass (least in this contry.) Ps. Kick ass site you have here.

This is a great tip, cutting mats are good for small items but they are rather expensive. If you are cutting off the roll you’ll need an A0 sized mat. The acrylic sheet is much cheaper and some places will cut it to size for you.
I got a nice sheet that will fit perfectly on my ironing board from Wickes (UK).

Cut acrylic glass with a 120 tooth circular saw blade, over a piece of cheap plywood, clamped down, just built a greenhouse out of the 1/8″ thickness stuff, used 4ft by 8ft pieces. Bullet resistant lexan works best, 1/4″ would last indefinitely (I bet) if you can afford it… all this crap releases toxic gases when you cut it, so cut outside, or have some ventilation.

We are currently just starting out, but with years of experience in the london Latex Fetish seen i always recommend using a hardwaring linoleum flooring, it’s the best to cut on and easy to use, the price is good as well.
Hint.. it’s the same thing they use in hospitals flooring….
