I found some great leather marking pens at my local leather crafting shop, those ae great: http://www.skinhouse.eu/default.asp?Action=Details&Item=751
You can also order them online, make a search on leather marking pen and you will find it. The usual color is silver :)
You can also have a look at them here http://www.tailorschalks.com/tailorpensmarkers.htm

Would tailor's chalk be suitable for marking out? My Savile Row trained grandmother swore by it (often quite loudly) but I've not seen any reference to it on latex sites. Apologies if it's a daft question, but would be very grateful if anyone could advise, not least cos I've got lots of it!

PS great site xx

Note: Always make sure you're using non-permanent markers and are not water resistent, which are much harder to abtain than the permanent ones.

About the pens - I like to use the gel pens that you can get in a variety of colors. The gel makes it easy to draw on latex and you can wipe it off afterwards. :)
