Measure Tape

Add comments

The measuring tape is a very important tool for you if your new garment should fit you! So you should learn how to use it!

You will take all the needed body measuremts with it. You can get it in various styles and colors. They are usually 150cm long and have a width of 18mm. They are flexible but not stretchable to get the best results in taking measurements, even around curves and corners. You can buy them almost all over the places. I bought mine in a regular tailorstore.

Great page you are building Kitty. Keep it up :)

I want to try and make my own latex clothing but there is something I don’t understand. When you take the measurements then what? How do you know which shapes to cut, and how do you use the measurements, when drawing out the shapes?

I guess this is a total basic thing, but without understanding it, I can’t see how I should get started :)

    Hi Jesper,
that are questions which are not answered that shortly. I will take that topic up again in my blog, but it might be a good idea for you to check up on pattern books or some blogs etc. if you cant wait to start. There you can get an idea of how those basic shapes look like.

    Hi Kitty

Ah ok, so there ARE some basic patterns that you have to work from. Got it ;) Thank you very much for you help. Will look forward to your blog about it.

    Kitty,
quick question. I’ve done other pattern drafting with regular knits. To transfer this to latex are as many seams necessary? It seems a latex suit only needs a seam at the side? Is this enough to get a tight fit?
